This April, we’re turning the page to celebrate our incredible school librarian and library media assistants! ✨ From story time to study time, they help transform learning, ignite imaginations, and keep our students turning pages and chasing knowledge.
Whether recommending a great book, helping with research projects, or building welcoming spaces, all who serve in our libraries — do so with heart and humor.
Join us in giving a standing ovation (and maybe a quiet clap—it is a library, after all) to our dedicated library staff at each school site. Your passion and expertise enrich our schools every day, and we are so grateful for all that you do.

Several times a month, students across the district can enjoy fresh, flavor-packed meals courtesy of the CUSD Nutrition Services Department. These special menu days bring excitement to the cafeteria with bold, scratch-made recipes.
Imagine the enticing aroma of scratch-made roasted chile verde sauce wafting through CUSD’s central kitchen as it roasts to perfection. This vibrant sauce, featuring tomatillos, onions, poblano peppers, garlic, jalapeños, and cilantro, is the heart of our new chile verde carnitas.The sauce not only delivers incredible flavor but also boosts the meal’s overall nutrition. Another scratch-made recipe that our dedicated employees have added to the menu is vegetarian lasagna. After enjoying their lasagna, an eager kindergarten student at Vista said it best: “This was the best lunch ever!”
Other recent new menu highlights have included flavorful chicken tikka masala and a delicious black bean veggie burger for our vegan students. These dishes are prepared from quality ingredients and have proven popular among students—many enjoying every bite! These special menu days are part of the district's commitment to providing nutritious, tasty meal options that students genuinely look forward to.

Celebrating Our Heroes: School Nutrition Employee Week -
This week, Claremont Unified School District proudly celebrates School Nutrition Employee Week from April 29 to May 3, 2024. During this special week, we recognize the invaluable contributions of our Nutrition Services team, who ensure that our students are well-nourished every day. For some students, the meals provided at school are the most substantial they receive all day, emphasizing the critical role our nutrition team plays in their diets, overall well-being, and ability to learn.
Our district is committed to upholding values of excellence, equity, innovation, and integrity, all of which are vividly brought to life by our Nutrition Services team. Each day, they prepare healthy, nutritious meals that meet USDA standards, navigating food allergies and dietary needs with a smile. This dedication is essential in providing a high-quality, relevant educational experience that supports the whole child and their academic success.
As we approach School Lunch Hero Day on May 3, we extend our heartfelt thanks to these essential members of the Claremont Unified family. We are thrilled to announce that the Claremont Unified School District has been recognized as a 2024 Green Ribbon Schools Green Achiever! Only five educational institutions receive this award each year. This esteemed state award highlights our dedicated efforts toward innovative and effective environmental practices, including our robust recycling initiatives, energy-saving measures, and vibrant school gardens that enhance both education and sustainability.
Building on our state-level accolade, we are equally proud to share that CUSD has also achieved national recognition as a 2024 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School District Sustainability Awardee. This significant honor acknowledges our district-wide commitment to sustainability, focusing on reducing environmental impacts, improving health and wellness, and delivering exemplary environmental education. Our initiatives demonstrate our pledge not just to teach sustainability, but to live it, fostering a culture that respects and protects our planet.
These dual recognitions validate the hard work and passion of our students, teachers, staff, and community partners. Together, we are setting a standard for environmental stewardship and education. Spring Break is here! From April 1 to 5, all Claremont Unified School District schools will be on break, providing students with a well-deserved recess. Our District Office will remain open to the public April 1-4 and closed on April 5. We wish our students a restful and enjoyable Spring Break and look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, April 8.
